SP28 Fuji Single Malt Whisky
Released in 2024, Fuji Single Malt was Kirin's answer to years of demand for an authentic single malt from a distillery long known primarily for its grain whisky. Made entirely from malt whisky distilled, matured, and bottled at Fuji Gotemba, it's built from a marriage of casks up to 16 years old, part double-distilled in traditional pot stills. Bourbon barrels form the backbone of maturation, supplemented by beer-aged and wine-aged casks that add extra floral, fruity depth. The nose is elegant and rich, with ripe apple, pineapple, crème brûlée, and honey, softened by a subtle floral tea note. On the palate, white peach, pear, and apricot unfold in a soft, velvety texture, finishing long and sweet with a gourmet, evolving complexity. Master Blender Jota Tanaka describes it simply: "Delicate, but with lots of layers of flavours. All in harmony." Bottled at 43–46% ABV depending on release.
ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Fuji Single Malt draws on the same volcanic-filtered Mount Fuji meltwater and cool, misty, high-altitude climate (610–620 meters) that shapes all of Kirin's Fuji range — conditions the distillery credits for the slow, even maturation behind this whisky's depth.
