SP29 Fuji Single Grain Whiskey

Released in April 2020 as the first expression under the modern "Fuji" name, Single Grain showcases the very technique that built Fuji Gotemba's reputation long before its single malt ever existed. The distillery produces three distinct in-house grain whisky styles — a Canadian-style grain batch-distilled in a kettle still, a bourbon-style distillate run through a Doubler, and a Scotch-style light grain from a continuous multi-column still — and this release blends all three together to highlight both their similarities and differences. The result leans distinctly bourbon-adjacent: corn character dominates early, with apple and pear fruit, a grainy sweetness, and a touch of vanilla on the nose. The palate is complex but light-bodied, with apple and pear again to the fore, backed by vanilla and grain notes, finishing long with orange and chocolate emerging at the close. Bottled at 46% ABV, it's a whisky built specifically to spotlight Fuji Gotemba's rare, multi-still grain-whisky expertise — a specialty that predates the distillery's more recent push into single malt.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Fuji Gotemba is one of the few distilleries in the world equipped to produce three distinct grain-whisky styles on separate still types, all under one roof — a legacy of its 1972 founding as a joint venture between Kirin, Seagram, and Chivas Brothers, each bringing their own national distilling tradition to the site.
