Description
Tomita Shuzo was established in the 15th century and has been passed down over 15 generations of owners (over 450 years!). Using purified water from Mt. Ibuki and carefully selected local sake rice, the brewery makes small batches of high quality sake in northern snowy Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest freshwater lake. Following the death of Oda Nobunaga, the first unifier of Japan, there was a power struggle between samurai in 1583. The “Seven Spearsmen” was inspired by seven young samurai warriors who helped bring victory to Nobunaga’s general, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and thus reunite Japan.
