This is a classic junmai sake or “pure rice” sake with a crisp, rich flavor brewed in the Kyotango region of Kyoto. The brand name, Tamagawa, can be translated as “Jewel River”, and is thought to derive from the Kawakamidani River which flows by the brewery – which has existed since 1842. This junmai sake complements seafood, fried foods, and full-flavored dishes. It is smokey, with nutty top notes that are joined by berry-like fruitiness and plenty of rice-driven umami that gives it added depth. We recommend serving it room temperature or warm.
